The greatest asset to my fishing career has been my fisheries Biology education at Mansfield University. The first thing I did upon arriving in Mansfield my freshman year was join the Bass fishing team. I had been fishing for my Highschool, Central Dauphin in the Highschool Bassmaster series. To be a great fisherman, you must first fully understand your target species. My education has enlightened me on everything there is to know about all the aquatic species native to PA, from electrofishing to aquaculture of various PA species. My endless hours on the streams have taught me that effective fly fishing can be categorized by 50% presentation, and 50% fly choice. During my sophomore year of college, I started selling my productive (confidence) fly patterns via Instagram, Facebook, and word of mouth. I began guiding on Pine Creek, and Spruce Creek in PA, as well as In Upstate NY for Salmon, Browns and Steelhead. Once I started Euro nymphing I never looked back, proceeding to tie almost exclusively euro-style fly patterns on competition barbless jig hooks and slotted tungsten beads… Thin for the win!
